A-Level ICT - Unit 1

About this unit

You and your business partners have decided to launch a new record label signing up new music artists. During this project you will:

  • Investigate and review existing company styles.
  • Create a presentation about communication methods and technologies.
  • Create a style for the company including a logo.
  • Carry out a questionnaire finding out peoples music tastes.
  • Create a letter that can be used to communicate with unsigned bands.
  • Create CD cover booklet.
  • Design the CD artwork.
  • Create website to promote your company and signed artists.

There are five key pieces of evidence that must be produced for every document created. (after each assessment objective )

  1. Design your document on paper
  2. Create your designs on the computer
  3. Evaluate your first draft, suggest improvements, All printouts should be annotated (appendix1) and your commentary document should be filled out (appendix 2)
  4. Implement improvements
  5. Evaluate the process of designing that document
  6. Fill out the self review document and get it signed off by your teacher (appendix 3)

Important Notes:

  • Use headers and footers on your final documents
  • Carefully check accuracy and layout of your report BEFORE submission.
  • Nothing to be hand written except annotation on documents.
  • Keep your work organised – relevant filenames and folders for each unit.
  • Evaluations/write ups etc. should be in size 12 font and a plain consistent style throughout your entire project.
